Great thanks to the NCRS for providing this service.
One of the 3 VIN's for a black `69 SS396 post sedan came back as being sold new at McCormick Motors in Nappanee, IN.
I called the dealer and actually talked with the salesman/owner who ordered the car originally in `69, and has been there for 53 years. He thought he remembered who bought the car as it was his nephew.
He gave me the nephew's number, who called me back and remembered the car being sold new to an acquaintance/friend out of Warsaw, IN. He gave me the name, but also said the guy was killed in Viet Nam in early `70.
The owner of the dealership, Bernie Beer, says he will ask around to see if anyone he knows may know what happened with the car after that. Great guy!
When the car is done, I plan on taking it to McCormick Motors to show it to Bernie. He says he'd love to see it as it's fun for him to relive the performance years too.

Pretty cool alright, and the owner was actually saying he was having fun digging into this.
Hope the "other" post car ends up having some history info.
Look forward to the emblem Tony!

The report on my 67 Z28 came like this-

The GM official Production Date was 4/6/1967

The original delivery Dealer was code 0 in zone 40

The name and location of the dealer was:

Chevrolet Zone Office
Charleston, WV

Car is a cowl plenum intake with no non-Z28 options.

Any ideas why the zone office would order this car?

Cars intended for the press were routed through the zone offices...that's my guess.

Received my report today. Sold new at Schwyn Brothers Chevrolet in Blissfield, MI. This lines up exactly with the previous owner's story and I am stoked!
