Default '69 RS/Z, Red on White Houndstooth, VE3, 8-track, Tilt, etc...

Neat car - no mention of docs or whether any of the drivetrain or options are original (but this color combo sure looks sharp with the body color front bumper).

Sounds like the owner passed away, and the widow is selling it on his behalf. For this kind of $$ I'd expect a more thorough debrief on what's original, with more detail pics.

Shouldn't have had fender pinstripes applied as well as the Z stripes during the restoration, but they do really suit it IMHO!

Another issue is the stripe color. Garnet Red would have been built with black stripes unless it originally had a parchment vinyl top. Back then it was acceptable to change colors, add options during a restoration so no telling what was done here.

Some very early production Z/28s may have had the D96 fender striping. Chevrolet continually revised optional equipment for the '69 model year. An update to the Showroom Album dated September 12, 1968 states:

"FENDER STRIPING (RPO D96, Body-side accent stripe) included with Rally-Sport and Style Trim Group. Not available with Sport Striping (SS or RPO D90). Available in combination with Front Accent Striping (RPO DX1) or with RPO Z28."

Guessing here, I'd say Z21 & Z22 Z/28s included D96 striping for a short period of time. Per the Showroom Album revision, D96 was no longer included but became optional as of late September '68. As an option D96 is rare, 5,176 cars. At some point, possibly the January '69 revision, the one stripe per car restriction was put in place. This car was built late March and would not have had D96.

Flashy car that needs corrections and updates. At that asking price, needs to have original drive train.

It's only about 2 hours from me. Surprised I have never seen it.

This would be a March 1969 LA built car. You would need to judge it from there. I see several thing wrong...Joe

Nice looking car but Mid April block in an 03C car? Seller description states no VIN on the engine, the trans has a VIN from another car, and the 12 bolt is dated November? Doesn't sound like anything is original in the driveline.

Gonna be a tough sell at that price but I do like the options and that fold down deluxe interior.

Without VIN-stamped driveline components, no proof it really was a Z/28.

Now on BaT

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...t-camaro-1119/

Interesting.... Looks like the original cowl tag was changed out since I last saw this car.

Old Tag, which Im sure was original, had different Interior code (718) Standard Red, Body number, week of production and LA Scheduling code.

At that time it had non matching drivetrain. (engine, trans, rear)

So when it was listed on ebay it had the original tag, but had the houndstooth interior and someone who bought it must have changed out the tag to match the interior

It also says
Quote:
The car was acquired by the seller in 2022. This Z/28 is offered with a window sticker copy, a dealer invoice copy,
Both are made up. Not that the seller is claiming either way. So now it also appears there may be places making up fake original invoices
