Default 1970 Chevelle F70-14 General Spare Tire

Did the spare tire for a 70 Chevelle come from the factory with a trim ring or center cap? I'm guess no to both but am not sure and my buddy Jerry, who just bought a black SS 396 found through this site, found a General spare in his trunk and it has a trim ring with no center cap. Tire appears to be like new and still has the knobs on the tread so I'm guessing its a rare piece since they aren't reproduced.

No. There would be no reason for GM to include those or the expense since it was just a spare. Nice and valuable tire by the way.

Rick is correct, .... again. And my Chevelle was originally equipped with General 700 BIA/BELTs.
Here's a shot from 1971 just after I put the M/T L60s on the back.

Looks great with that 'substantial' rubber on the back, Dennis!

I don't know if its appropriate to ask, but if your friend is willing to sell the spare, I'll pay top dollar for it. I'm assuming the wheel is original paint, there is no dry rot and that the lug nut holes have never seen paint chipped from installation. But I would buy either way.

I spoke to Jerry today Jeff and he doesn't want to sell the spare tire. He was just wondering if the trim ring and tire were original. I thought the tire was pretty rare but had no idea about trim ring so I posted the picture here to find out.
