Default Ryan Weaver’s 1973 VW Super Beetle

I checked and “The Lounge” is for “off topic discussions not directly pertaining to Supercars/Musclecars”

This is about as off topic as possible.

April 30th 1973 Gunter Templin bought an Orange 1973 Super Beetle. His Neighbor Leonardo Santamaria bought the Beetle from Gunter Nov 18, 1988, and later Leo sold it to his daughter Lucia June 14,2014, Fast forward to Aug 20, 2021 and I became the fourth owner of this happy car.

The condition is very good for a car that has lived in a Windsor and Cambridge Ontario it’s whole life.

I have lots of little TLC items to improve but overall she’s a nice driver and I intend to do just that!!!

I have felt for a long time I want to try driving a vintage car every day….. Let’s see how this goes….

My kids are both in University this year so get the 2006 Matrix I bought to keep them away from Amy’s new CX-30 SUV. The Matrix will be my winter car and if the Beetle is not wanting to start.

At first I thought the colour was too flashy for me…. But as soon as I saw it up close I fell in love. (Gunter painted it blue at one point and both families forced him to have it sanded to bare metal and painted orange again:-)

Options: none

Extras: Spare trans, 3 boxes of items, plus a 75 HP 1600 rebuilt engine complete and its on a run stand :-)

I took the Cutlass for a rip today, picked up my father in law and took him for a cruise. I need to make sure she doesn’t get jealous

I drove a 66 Bug briefly. Sold it to my school teacher cousin. She drove it for years.

I don't know how much, if any, the heater was improved between 66 and 73.

Seeing that you will be driving in Canadian winters, you better hope there is a lot of improvement in that 7 years!!
Driving it to MCACN?

Ryan has vowed to not allow this Beetle, to see moisture, rain, water, dew, snow or any Canadian winters.....but I bet his Beetle is currently sitting outside right now, while a heavy rain storm is heading his way in the morning.
There is a reason why 78% of Beetles live in California and 1.5% live in Canada.

Keep this Beetle Happy

Dan

He shoots, he scores… an empty net goal! ;-)

I’ll bet you’ll make a lot of fun memories in that beetle. Congrats and enjoy!

No snow or salt roads for sure.

I can’t promise no dew :-)
