1967 L78 Chevelle
I am selling my 1967 L78 Chevelle. To my knowledge, this is the earliest built 67 L78 Chevelle known at this time, 04C build date from the Framingham plant. The car was sold new in Northern Maine at Etscovitz Chevrolet and spent it’s life there until being sold to a prior owner around 2010, who restored the car. It is highly optioned for an L78 car. Vinyl top, gauge package, bucket seats, console, sport steering wheel, and power disc brakes. It is an M21 car with 3.73 posi. The car is documented with the original POP, and prior owner affidavits. Car was shown at MCACN in 2011 and 2012, scoring a best of 996/1000.
The car retains all the factory high performance parts such as it’s original date coded (742) 3910 Holley, distributor, manifolds, balancer, deep groove crank pulley, correct timing chain cover without dowel pin holes, alternator, alternator pulley, radiator, fan and fan clutch. Matching numbers trans and rear. I believe the block is as well, D17 casting date and 0420EG assembly date. There is no partial VIN on the block so I cannot say undoubtedly 100% that it is the original block, as I was not with the car since it was new in April of 1967, but I believe it to be. It is an EG engine with a matching assembly date reflected on the POP. The professionally built engine runs flawlessly and works as it should. It makes great power and has great drivability. This is how a stock L78 with a better than stock tune up should run! 291 heads without temp sending plugs, 6223 crank, 4 bolt mains, dimple rods with ARP bolts, NOS .030 over TRW pistons, and a Comp Cams replacement 143 cam. I always run this engine on a blend of pump gas and 110 leaded VP race gas. Did I say it makes great power?? The M21 shifts silky smooth. I did put a McLeod Clutch in it and a McLeod flywheel.. I can answer or do my best to answer any questions you may have. This car is very correct and is a pleasure to drive. Stunning glass, chrome, interior. It really is too much to list. $120,000 Chuck 562-234-2012 Last edited by Chuck_Burg; 08-15-2024 at 09:00 PM. Reason: Enter price |

I love the car. I think you got one number wrong in your add. I believe the heads should be 391. The 291 head was for 1970.

Sorry for the typo. 391 is correct. Photos of the castings numbers and date codes available. I recall D 1 7 date code on the drivers side head.

Probably would have to add another $70,000 if it was a convertible. Beautiful, rare car. One of 612 built.
