Default SSR's - 2005 or 2006

Been toying with the purchase of one of these and am wondering if anyone here has owned one of the higher horsepower versions. If so, I would be interested in your thoughts on these in terms of driving experience, etc. I have never owned or driven one.

Also, I seem to recall a shop that specialized in doing some conversion work on these vehicles in terms of increasing horsepower, suspension changes, exhaust, etc. Anyone familar with such a source?

Thanks.

I'll tell 'ya. I was never very interested in them during their production run but about a year ago I learned that they were available with the 400 HP LS-2 and 6-speed transmission in the last year or two of production of them. That has to make for a fun car to drive, especially with the top down! I'd have no problem owning one of 'em with the good drivetrain. If it's LS-related, you could probably contact Lingenfelter about some great upgrades.

Dick, try and find an 06 if you can,it was the second year for the LS2,they tweaked it for a about 10 h.p. more than the 05 SSR.
If you are going to go to the next level I highly recommend Vengeance-IMO the best in the biz for LSX cars.

Here's my SS with a Vengeance L92,553.9 at the tire on 91 octance and CA emissions legal. It's normally aspirated in case you were wondering

I think Doug Perry (hugger 69 copo) has one and I think he wants to sell it to make more room. Mark
