Default Wiggins Chevrolet in PA

Anyone have info on this dealer? Lancaster, PA. This is where my Z was sold from I'm guessing. Production date 6/6/69, dealer code 650, Zone 49. Looking on line indicates no longer in business. Thanks.

It eventually, changed hands in 1970 ? to Larry Murphy Chevrolet , They went out of business Probably 20 years ago ? Late 90’s early 2000’s ? I drive buy the old location a couple times a week , was on a cool corner spot of Harrisburg pike a few blocks up from Franklin & Marshall College

Found an image of the building under the Faulkner occupancy, along with a brief story of it's history as a dealership:
Quote:
The Manheim Township site, with its high visibility and traffic count, has a long and occasionally colorful history as a car dealership.
It first became a car dealership in 1941, when Wiggins Chevrolet moved there from North Prince Street, newspaper records show.
Twenty-six years later, Wiggins Chevrolet was rebuilt after a major fire caused more than $500,000 damage.
In 1970, the business was sold to Scott-Murphy Chevrolet, later renamed Larry Murphy Chevrolet.
It was during that era that the dealership made headlines for an ill-fated Fourth of July promotion.
But plans to fire a 28-foot rocket on July 4, 1989 were scrapped when the dealership learned documents used to obtain the rocket engines were forged.
(The rocket still is in storage in the building's basement.)
Faulkner acquired the dealership later that year.

Looks like a few Wiggins Chevrolet Lancaster delivered cars exist including a '63 'Vette Coupe also '67 SS396 Chevelle.
If you haven't seen them yet, there's a Wiggins' Ice Scraper currently on eBoy also a set of earrings that appear to be Wiggins Keychains on Etsy @ these links also as pics below.

Found all those items looking Saturday night, pretty cool looking penny. I've had this car since 1999, found 5 owners here in Delaware, and was able to talk with 2. There was an owner in Elkton, MD., but not able to contact that person, I couldn't get any info from MD at the time. I did find out it was used to race at some point, but haven't found much on that. Also have had a few different people approach me locally, at different car shows, and asked if I new some guy that owned it that had died. Having a hard time finding any other history.

Thanks.

Cool Stuff. We lived with my Grandmother in Peach Bottom when my dad went off to Viet Nam. Lancaster Pa brought back some good memories.

A dealership near Philly recently sold a 68 Impala SS 396/4spd convertible sold new there. Have several Wiggins cars in my database. There were also Wiggins Chevy dealerships in Quarryville and Pequea. Maybe a relative

Hey Gary. I have two cars that came from Wiggins Chevrolet. A 64 Chevelle Super Sport And a 68 Chevy II Super Sport. My Chevelle is a one owner, all original, one repaint in 73. I have the window sticker and other stuff for it. I’ve known this car all my life now I’m the second owner as of the last 8 years. My 68 I’ve had 36 years and all numbers matching driveline but I know no history prior to me. The title says J which in PA it means there were 10 owners prior to me. PA doesn’t help with previous info. Know one has ever come up to me at a show and said they remember my car. Kinda would like that, but……. I have searched for information about Wiggins every two weeks or so and find very little. The pennies are kinda common, a friend just recently found me a yardstick and another friend gave me some newspaper clippings I thought were cool. I don’t know if any other cars but yours now that came from Wiggins. I’m sure there are more but I don’t know if any, and I’m local to Lancaster PA. Does you Camaro have a wiggins trunk emblem or decal?
