'68 327/4-sp Malibu
Interesting to see a '68 Malibu with a 327/4-sp and radio delete. Totally worthless auction description, but it might be a L-79, who knows. VIN is also incorrect - should be a 136xx....
Definitely no bargain at the $37k opening bid, but may be closer to a realistic number if it were a #s 325hp car. Link to 1968 327 Malibu auction 137378Z137364 |

You’re right, the description is useless and so are most of the pics. I like that factory pinstripe! Parts of the car look unrestored. There’s some rash on the front bumper… I wonder what’s original and unrestored? 6k tach… hmmm

Isn't that a '69 tach/gauge cluster ? '68 should have the roller tach. Mine did.

A ‘69 Chevelle tach setup is round and has the other gages at N, S, E & W. This one is square and has the gages in the NE, SE, SW and NW corners?

That's a standard 68 idiot light dash cluster and someone has added an aftermarket 'factory-look' tach in the center of the right hand gauge pod. Correct about the roller tach, if it had been a true factory setup, it would have gages in the place of the idiot lights plus the roller tach directly above the steering column.

No pix with the hood or trunk open?? Might be a nice car...but, using terms like unmolested, unaltered, true time capsule, survivor, 100% original... and seeing a fresh gas tank, fresh orange oil pan paint, and headers, (failed mention that with the flow master), description is in doubt. |

My 68 El Camino has no clock and no tach, and no gauges, other than fuel. I thought about a hood tach. I hate the roll tach; and they are expensive.
Also thought about cutting a hole in the cluster where the clock would be on a 68. Looks to me like that is exactly what was done on this one.

Does anyone repro the roll tach, or would you have to find a used OEM piece?

Repro is $209 and some change.
Originals bring in excess of $600.
