Default MCACN Official Schedule of Events 2024

Thought it would be good to post an Official Schedule of Events for this year.

We have close to 600 cars, so it is easy to miss out on some of the other cool things we have going on. Please share this with anyone who may be interested. This is the actual content of the handout we give out at the show, which is color-keyed.

SATURDAY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

SHOW HOURS SATURDAY: 9 AM – 8 PM

9:30 am – 1:10 pm
PREMIER UNVEILINGS; 9:45 – 1:10 pm: See the back of this handout for locations. Locations vary in Red Zone 1 and Green Zone 2. Look for the Premier Unveiling flags.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

AMERICAN GRAFFITI & TWO-LANE BLACKTOP ’55 CHEVY’S and the JOE DIRT DODGE “DAYTONA”. These are the real-deal on screen cars as seen in these iconic movies! And as if that isn’t enough, meet the man who built those ‘55’s, Richard Ruth. Green Zone 2.
Meet Richard Ruth, Legendary Builder. Richard Ruth is a hot-rodder who was called to build cars for both Two Lane Black Top and American Graffiti. Meet the man and see how he landed the job and how he built these cars, and so many others.

Meet Courtney Hansen: While she may be most recognized for being the original Co-Host on Overhaulin’, that was only the beginning. Today Courtney has her new show (and restoration shop!) Ride Of Your Life with her own ROYL Garage. Courtney will join us for many of our Premier Unveilings and she will be with us both days, signing autographs, posing for pictures and generally having a great time all day throughout the show.
Meet Chris Jacobs: While many know Chris from his days on Overhaulin’ (with Courtney!) his resume includes numerous television and movie roles. Today he serves as one of Mecum Auctions on air personalities and best of all, he is a real car guy. In the Mecum Auctions Display.
Chris will be Co-Hosting some of our Premier Unveilings, starting at 9:30 am and signing autographs Saturday 2:00 and 5:00 in the big Mecum Auctions display in Red Zone 1. He will also be hanging out at the show both days checking out the cars and meeting fans.

Meet Wayne Carini, Presented by Car Capsule: Wayne Carini of Chasing Classic Cars fame will be with us both days, based in the Car Capsule display in Zone 1, but also meeting and signing autographs throughout the show.

Check in at the Car Capsule display for exact times of signings. Blue Zone 2 Spot 2079.
Meet Butch “The California Flash” Leal. We are honored to have The California Flash with us both days, signing autographs and meeting fans. He will be with one of his own California Flash racers in the big History of the 426 Hemi Invitational display in the Green Zone 2.

Meet Paul Rossi, “Mr. Direct Connection”. Paul will be joining us with one of his HEMI powered drag cars in the History of the 426 HEMI Invitational display in Green Zone 2. Meet Paul and see what he is up to now with his latest drag project.

Meet Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick: Yes…Arnie really is a farmer to this day and an enthusiastic Drag Racer that has set numerous national records in various Tameless Tiger Pontiacs. Check out his latest ride and meet Arnie.
Saturday and Sunday in the Awards/Ballroom area, Blue Zone 3.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD ROCK & ROLL BACKLINE DISPLAY and MORE. Check out an incredible collection of rock and roll memorabilia from the Chicago Music Exchange VAULT Collection. This will include the actual guitars that were used on Free Bird along with a variety of backline equipment. This is the real deal, and there will be even more to see in this incredible display. Look for the ’66 Shelby GT350 surrounded by awesome Rock & Roll treasures! Saturday and Sunday in Green Zone 2

Kids FREE Scavenger Hunt and other Kids activities; All Day. Kids 14 and under can check in at the Information booth up front to pick up your scavenger hunt card and backpack. Hot Wheels Races, Model Car Make and Take Sponsored by Auto World, NCM Youth Judging, Coloring contest, all FREE for the kiddos! Hands-on Activities take place in our Kids Zone in the Orange Zone 4 center hall, to the right of Muscle Bicycle display. NCM Insurance Insurance Youth Judging, Saturday only; check in at Information booth to the in Red Zone 1.

Kids Youth Judging, Presented by NCM Insurance. Kids get a real “behind the scenes look” into what the Judges look for. They also get to meet some awesome owners, who will share why they got into this awesome hobby and present special awards to their favorites.
Saturday 1:00. Sign up at the Information Booth right by the Main Entrance in Red Zone 1.

Seminars and Panel Discussions for Saturday:
Open to all spectators and participants. Located on the Awards Stage in the Awards/Ballroom area in Green Zone 3 and at several of our very special cars.
Special Thanks go out to our Presentation Coordinators/Hosts Matt Avery, Kevin Oeste and Geoff Stunkard.

1:00 Shelby, Past, Present and Future, Moderated by Colin Comer. Meet Hunt Palmer-Ball and hear about the ’67 Shelby he bought brand spankin’ new when he was just a kid. Meet Gary Patterson, President of Shelby American, Inc. and hear stories about Carroll Shelby and what is happening at Shelby American now and what is in store for the future.

2:00 Meet the Future, Moderated by Matt Avery. If you think that the younger generation has no interest in our hobby, you MUST attend this panel discussion. Meet some of the young men and ladies that are as passionate about our hobby as me. This includes several active and successful racers, several that are currently building their cars, another that builds, races and fabricates and built his own mobile welding shop and a young photographer that recently joined the Mecum Auctions team.

3:00: Meet The Legends: Butch “The California Flash” Leal, Arnie Beswick, Paul Rossi, John Troxell and others, moderated by Geoff Stunkard. There is nothing better than doing a bit of “bench racing” with some of Drag Racing’s true icons. This casual talk and Q&A session is sure to be fun, as all of these guys really love to share tales of their storied careers!
LIVE MUSIC SATURDAY!

4:00 & 6:00: RealTime Noise: RealTime Noise is a variety cover band with a unique playlist to excite music lovers of all ages. Playing music ranging from the old-school Motown greats to the 90’s hits we all love, they are sure to get you dancing and singing along. On the Awards Stage in the Ballroom on the far side of the “big” room. Green Zone 3. Perhaps a "special guest" will be sitting in behind the drums in the second set!

5:00 & 7:00: SUGO: Joining us from Milwaukee, SUGO is a New Orleans style Funk band that really rocks. Now if this doesn’t get you out of your seat something is just wrong. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Mike Cudahy, he and his bandmates love the FUNK, but they are steeped in blues and heavy rock & roll. Performing On the Awards Stage in the Ballroom on the far side of the “big” room. Green Zone 3

Walkaround Presentation.

The ONE AND ONLY CERV IVb; See what makes this one-off Corvette something truly unique. This is the only CERV Corvette that is privately owned, and it was used for development of a long list of new features.
Saturday: 2:00 pm & 6:00 pm, Red Zone 1, Mid America Motorworks display,

Walkaround Presentation:

11:00 CERV IVb, Presented by Mid America Motorworks
The Corvette team developed the CERV IV in 90 days in early 1993, got approval to build the car around April of that year and eventually turned the model into the C5, which arrived in 1997. CERV IVb was the only CERV designed with a front-mounted engine. See why this car is such an important chapter in Corvette history. Green Zone 2

3:30 - 5:00: AWARDS PRESENTATION: Located in the Ballroom on the far side of the “big” room near Yellow Zone 3. Everyone is welcome to join us! Green Zone 2 in the Mid America Motorworks display.

Show Closes at 5:00 pm.

Please use this as your "road map" and checklist. Don't miss out on all the cool stuff, and if you have young enthusiasts, please have them join our NCM Youth Judging group, as we have some really neat stuff happening with that.

The TWO bands are also really good!
