Default 1950s All-Tech The Wells Fargo Stagecoach Coin-Operated Children’s Ride

1950s All-Tech The Wells Fargo Stagecoach Coin-Operated Children’s Ride

Currently selling with NO RESERVE on a Bring a Trailer online auction. View the auction here!

In April 1867, just a few months after taking over the operation of most long-distance stagecoach lines in the western U.S, Wells Fargo decided that upgraded equipment would better serve customers now that it covered over 4,000 miles of territory. The Wells Fargo Stage Coach would serve for delivering mail, legal papers, checks and gold. The company placed an order for 10 stage coaches. On October 8, 1967, Wells Fargo placed and order for an additional 10 stagecoaches, but soon increased the order to 30 which is one of the largest ordered ever filled by Abbot-Downing. The Wells Fargo Stage Coach is an American Icon.

This charming 1953 All-Tech The Wells Fargo Stage Coach Coin-Operated Children's Ride has been restored with Yellowstone motif which makes it a unique piece. Dating back to the 1950's, All-Tech Industries Inc. of Hialeah, Florida was a large manufacture of coin-operated children's rides. The company advertised “Your Tag-A-Long traffic with America's most popular automatic, coin-operated kidmusements. Now in highly successful operation in over 50,000 leading stores throughout the United States. Real fun for the kids and relaxation for the mothers brings increased traffic volume to the store. These rides keep children away from merchandise on the store shelves. The Wells Fargo Stage Coach is an action-filled replica of the original Wells Fargo Stage Coach. All the thrills of driving coach or riding shot-gun. Formica base, strong durable fiberglass body and national coin rejector. Extruded aluminum track slides for service-free operation. Tamper-proof meter built into coin-box, accurately records each ride. Extremely quiet mechanism. Space required 2' x 5'. Age appeal 2-14.”

This piece has been restored to show quality standards and is in excellent working order. It retains its original All-Tech Industries Inc. manufacturers tag that reads Model #SC (Stage Coach) and Serial #123. The serial number indicates this was a very early built example. During the restoration process the original chrome railings and coin box were removed for a more realistic appearance. The original fiberglass horse body was stripped, prepped and repainted. The body was refinished in Buckskin coloring. The mane, legs, tail, halter and harness were refinished in black. The halter and harness trim was decorated with silver, blue and red coloring. The facial features are very realistic in appearance. The original fiberglass covered wagon known as The Wells Fargo Stage Coach was stripped, prepped and repainted. It was refinished in Cherry Wood coloring which gives a real wood appearance. The Strong Box was refinished in black with silver trim and the words Property of Wells Fargo in yellow. The painted blinds and windows are very realistic in appearance. The painted wagon poles and wheels are also very realistic in appearance. The horse body and Stage Coach was painted with an airbrush. Black painted metal step plates are attached to the front wheels which are used to get to the large seating surface. The original Formica base was stripped, prepped and repainted in black. The corners are decorated with stainless trim. The sides were decorated with Yellowstone decals which really gives the piece character. The base retains the original handle on the front for carrying and the wheels on the back for rolling. It was outfitted with a new 110-volt power cord. The 1/3 motor and mechanism is in excellent working order. During the restoration a new power switch was added to the top of the Stage Coach for easy access. When it's in the on position it runs continuously until its switched back to the off position.

The dimensions are 70”L x 28”W x 50”H.
