----Used to use those Firestone racing tires on my every day driver 69 435hp Corvette coupe. 8 inch slots on the front and 10 inch slots on the back. Was living in Ft Liquerdale at the time and didn't have any weather worries.....Bill S

More Pictures...Dave Welday was responsible for the "at track" modifications to the Pace car including Flags and pole holders.

Looking through the photos here is the source evidence provided to Welday that led to the conclusion that they must have been crayoned.

Here is a pace car upon arrival. It obviously is tab marked to avoid confusion by ZONE personnel AND is pictured here wearing an apparently entirely different set of tires.

"the label on the spare shows that the tires were sourced locally from a tire dealer in Speedway Indiana... "

Not sure what you mean. The label reads to me like it was shipped from Firestone in Ohio to Firestone tire and Rubber Racing Division in Speedway City Indiana.

More pictures from the month of May during time trials... looks like it is still rolling on its original tires here.

And this photo also likely shows the car again during the month of May Before the E gold letters were swapped on - still rolling on its original tires.
