Default M22 Transmission Case?

Dan and I just picked this up. Curious what the experts say. In the little research I've done, it could be an M22 case?

Case # 3925661. Has the two drain holes. There is no P code and no VIN although were I would expect the VIN to be, it says "CC0" space "31969"

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Dave

Dave,

When it says CC on a case it means it was sold as a counter case only. Meaning empty.

When the case has a CT it means it was sold as a complete counter transmission.

Thanks Warren. Is the 31969 a julian date? Produced 319th day of 1969?

I am not sure what the 31969 number is. Maybe just a serial number. The zero after the CC would be for 1970.

31969 is the serial number.

CC0 is counter case or chevy case depending on who you talk to.

The "0" after the CC is the year the case went into the replacement parts system.

The CC and CT stamping started in 1968 (CC8 &CT8) and went thru to the end of Muncie production (CC4 &CT4)

I have a large selection of NOS and nice used CC and CT cases and complete transmissions.

Hope this helps... Crash

All 661 main cases will have both a drain plug and a fill plug(M-20, M-21, and M-22's)

Hope this helps... Crash
