Default Street freak rear suspension

So I was born far too late to know, but for a gasser/street freak in the very late 60’s and early 70’s, what type of traction device would’ve been used on a lead spring suspended rear axle?
For what I’m building and to fit N50’s hanging out the side I’m going to flip the rear so it’s spring over axle. Would some type of ladder bar have been standard fair back then on something like that?
I’d like the car to sit something like this Falcon when done. Even though im building a Rambler.
Thank you.

Ladder Bars, long ladder bars, 3' to 4' long. Traction bars don't work once you flip the springs to the top. Most of them were home made.

Yes, long home made bars. When you say flip the rear end I hope you mean moving the spring perches from the bottom of the axle tube to the top and not actually turning the rear end over. You also need to make the rear end float in the spring perch. If the bars have a different arc than the springs then your suspension will bind.

Yes. Meaning going from spring under rear to spring over moving the perches. I don’t need 4 speeds in reverse.

Exactly. I know someone who did that and was very surprised the first time they tried to drive it.

Reminds me of the time my nephew got the steering cables reversed on his outboard. Turn the wheel left, the boat swung right.

You ought to try reversing the power steering hoses going to the control valve on a C3 or C4 Corvette. Start it up and the wheel turns violently from side to side until you shut the car off!!!!

It’s all coming together. Narrowed truck Dana 60 swapped in with the perches up top.
