This handsome 1964 Porsche 356SC is a superb example of a fully restored and matching numbers classic sports car. It’s accompanied with a copy of the Kardex which lists original delivery information as well as the factory drivetrain serial numbers. The 356 was Porsche’s first production automobile that was produced from 1948-1965. The 356 is a lightweight and nimble-handling, rear-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-door available both in a hardtop coupe and open configurations. The 356 was built in four distinct series, the original (pre-A), followed the 356 A, 356 B and finally the 356 C. The latest revision of the 356 was the 356C which was introduced in the 1964 model year. It featured disc brakes all around, as well as an option for the most powerful pushrod engine Porsche had ever produced, the 95HP “SC”. As documented this example was purchased new by Mr. John F. Englin of Hanford, CA. From the information gathered it spent its life in California until 2021. A copy of a California title showing a first year sold date of 1964 is included. The car was the product of a rotisserie nut and bolt restoration which is believed to have been completed in 2019. It’s in show quality condition including a detailed undercarriage. It was refinished in its original color combination of an Enamel Blue exterior and tan trimmed leather interior which is truly remarkable. The car is powered by its original matching numbers 1600 SC engine and period correct 4-speed manual transaxle. The chassis badge, chassis identification tag and chassis stamp are all present. All numbers align to the Stoddard Porsche 356 Body and Engine ID Numbers Chart which is included. An original owner’s manual and tool kit is also included. An example like this one doesn’t come around often.

The exterior of this car is in beautiful condition throughout. The body is very straight and it has excellent body gaps. The doors open and close so nicely. The car was stripped and painted in its original color of Enamel Blue which is code #6403. This color dresses this body perfectly and looks amazing in the natural sunlight. The paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine. The color-matched bumpers with chrome and black moldings look great. The gold Porsche SC emblems also look great on the engine cover. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as all the glass, window trim, wipers, mirror, hood ornament, headlight bezels, Wagner headlights, parking light bezels and lenses, front bumper pieces, door handles, rocker molding, twin grille engine covers, tail light bezels and lenses, rear bumper pieces and emblems. The chrome Leitz luggage rack with leather straps adds character. The car has a great stance on chrome 15” ventilated chrome wheels with Porsche crests on the chrome hub caps. The wheels are wrapped with Nexen SB-802 tires that are 165-80-15 with 2019 date codes.

The interior of this car is equally as beautiful as the exterior. The tan leather trim is a match made in heaven with the blue exterior color. The perforated headliner is tight. The re-upholstered tan leather includes the dash pad, door panels, arm rests, bucket seats, rear panel and rear seating with luggage straps. A three-spoke steering wheel with a Porsche crest horn button fronts VDO instrumentation that includes a central 6K-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. Additional appointments include a quartz movement analog clock and a Blaupunkt push-button AM/FM radio. The correct German-squareweave carpet with OEM rubber floor mat looks the part. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the rear view mirror, dash hardware, door sills, door handles, window cranks, speakers, shifter and pedals. The front cargo area was nicely stored and organized.

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many new parts. The black rear engine cover is crisp. The car is powered by the original matching numbers 1600 “SC” engine which was completely rebuilt and runs excellent. The air-cooled 1.6L 616/16 flat-four features dual Solex carburetors with correct Knecht air filters and was factory rated with 95HP. Everything was restored or replaced such as the wiring, coil, distributor, wires, belts, hoses, etc. The correct tags and stickers were added on some miscellaneous parts. The engine is coupled to the period correct 4-speed manual transaxle which was also completely rebuilt and shifts smoothly.

The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many new parts. The entire underside was painted in a texture black paint which is durable. The fuel system, steering system, suspension components and braking system with four wheel disc brakes. Finding Porsche 356 models with undercarriages this clean are few and far between.
