Luvchevs,

There were 11 ‘71 Hemicuda hardtops sold into Canada, and two of them were FJ6 (aka Sassy Grass Green). The one you’re thinking of was shipped to Montreal, the other (mine) was shipped through a Chrysler dealership in Vancouver to a fellow in Smithers. Both of these Canadian FJ6 cars have black billboards and a black vinyl top, but mine’s a 4spd with houndstooth interior while the Montreal car is an Auto loaded with spoilers, leather interior, and rear window louvers.

Barry’s car, the one next to mine at the show, is also loaded, a California-shipped 4spd with black billboards, leather, front rubber bumper and a wing.

These three are the only FJ6 ‘71s known to exist that are coded for billboards. For other US shipments there are also 3 non-billboard ‘71 Hemicuda 4spds in FJ6, plus 2 other Autos, making a total of 8. But the interesting thing to me, which is one of the things I wanted to highlight in this Canadian display, is that even though only ~10% of these musclecars went to Canada, percentage-wide the Canadians were far more likely to order their cars in the crazy colors and with the wild stripes.

The other Canadian FJ6 Cuda that was shipped to Montreal is featured in the September '19 issue of Muscle Car Review. It is a mostly unrestored car that was repainted in the '70's.

One of the 4 speed cars was featured in Mopar Muscle a number of years ago. It has a black interior and 4.10 gears. It was sold new in MD. It has black billboards that were apparently added when it was restored.

Another one of the 4 speed cars was featured in the February '06 issue of Mopar Collectors Guide. It has a white interior and 4.10 gears. It was sold new in NC.

One of the Autos was in a Hemi book a number of years ago. It was also at the Mecum Auction in Chicago in '05. That car has a rubber bumper, black vinyl top, luggage rack, black interior and 4.10 gears.

Right on all accounts again! I thought the 4speed you mentioned from Mopar Muscle (aka the Smith Stokes car) was from NC. In any case it is a nicely optioned car with a front rubber bumper, but the billboards were added.

Another US FJ6 4-speed hasn't been in magazines yet, at least not to my knowledge, but was recently restored in Canada and is now owned by Kevin Suydam. It has a black vinyl top, black leather interior, and a rear wing.

The other US FJ6 Auto has probably been in magazines but I don't remember. It is pretty easy to spot because it's a Pilot car, the lowest VIN# of any '71 Hemicuda. It has green interior, black vinyl top, wing, louvers, and an unusual early-style Fender Tag. It has been to a few Mopar shows.

Along with Barry's 4spd, the 4spd with white interior, and the Auto with the luggage rack, that's the 6 US cars, plus the 2 Canadians brings the total to 8. None of the Internationally-shipped '71 Hemicudas that have surfaced are FJ6.

You're correct Wade I got them mixed up. The 4 speed with the black interior "Smith Stokes car" was sold new at M&L Motor Company in Lexington NC. The 4 speed with the white interior was sold new in MD.

Cudino (Wade)

I think I know of the FJ6 car that you said is now owned by Kevin.
Kevin looked pretty sad when he sold his 71 hemi vert 4 speed!
Do you know anything about the 71 cuda hemi vert in Bahama Yellow that was in Quebec at one time? I have seen it referenced online a couple times and have seen a pic of it but it wasn't at the big E body vert gathering at MCACN and none of the known big Ebody vert collectors including yourself have ever owned it.
There are a couple too many "0's" in the prices of these cars for me to ever own one but I drool over them from a distance!

The EL5 Bahama Yellow '71 Hemi Convertible is in a good home, resting comfortably in the Pacific Northwest. But the owner is very private, and the car is basically in fixed longterm storage. Awesome car, but realistically I don't think it will see the light of day for many years to come.

It is too bad that the car isn't more accessible for enthusiast to enjoy.
It is awesome that other collectors like yourself share your cars and their stories with the car community. I really enjoyed watching the youtube videos of you being interviewed and sharing the history on your E body verts!
I didn't get to hear Darryl share his story at MCACN of how he was able to be the lucky new owner of the 1 owner triple black 70 Hemi Cuda vert. I am hoping someone video taped it or will share the story here.
Was the EL5 car originally delivered to Canada?

Thanks, very kind of you! As for the unveiling of the '70 Hemicuda Vert at MCACN, Ola took a video which is available on YouTube. Here's the link:

As for the EL5 car, no, that was originally sold in the US. The two Canadian '71 Hemicuda Verts are the FC7 Purple and the EV2 Orange one.

Here are pictures of 4 of the other Sassy Grass Green cars I found on the internet. The first two are of the other Canadian sold car that was featured in Muscle Car Review.

The second car is the 4 speed Smith Stokes car from NC that was in Mopar Muscle.

The third car is the 4 speed car from MD that was in Mopar Collector's Guide.

The fourth car is the Automatic car that was at Mecum Chicago in '05.
