Sachs clutches

Has anyone had experience with their clutches? I'd like to hear comments. I like the design of the diaphram fingers a lot but I'd like to know if they hold up under some punishment.

ran them in the VW's...didnt know they made big car clutches.....?

read up on Mantech clutches, Vette guys are braging about them, a major tuner on the east coast is selling them, I am trying one this winter,,they are a Aussie piece.

We have installed Sachs clutches with the Keisler transmission conversions and haven't had any problems. Great product.

Sachs is a division of LuK, the largest OEM clutch manufacturer on the planet; they make good stuff - you'll find Sachs clutches in Porsches and Mercedes (and in Formula 1 cars, but their 5&quot; clutches are a bit above your price point) [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/grin.gif[/img]

I put one in my wife track day / autocross Vw golf going on 7 plus very hard years no problems. Also have one to install in my 73 Corvette with a mild 375 HP 350 .Very nice stuff .

Hey Verne:

I run a sachs clutch and pp in my turbo Bimmer. The clutch and pp was made for the old M635CSi or an M5.

The factory boost was only 6 psi, but it is now modifed to run up to 15 psi. Unbelievable torque for such a small (3.5 liter) engine. Turbo cars have no extra power until boost comes in, so if I really want to &quot;warm up&quot; the 255's out back, I have to slip the clutch on purpose to get boost off the line. I don't do that on a regular basis, but have done it on occasion. Way more punishment than it should be able to take, but I have no issues at all.
BMW uses sachs parts from the factory, and I have never found one that was lacking in quality.

I have one in my 1991 Grand Prix. I've been speedshifting over 6,000 RPMs for about 60,000 miles with no problems. Great clutch disc!

Sachs is actually a division of ZF Industries, not LUK.

I have an AC Delco replacement clutch that is stamped Sachs. I also have Centerforce and McCleod pressure plates that are stamped Valeo. Apparently like so many other things these days clutches are reboxed and sold under several different names.

Interested as to where Verne originally heard of Sachs clutches.
