Default 1970 CTB LT-1 Engine - Complete or part out.

Update: Sales Pending on all items. Will update if sale does not go through.

For sale is a complete, carb-to-pan, 1970 4-speed Z28 LT-1 350/360hp with all correct numbered and dated components. I bought this years ago from the car’s 2nd owner…his sister was the original owner and he bought the car from her in 1980. In 1989, he pulled the engine because it was “smoking” and put a truck motor in the car, then sold the car. 3 months later, the car was wrapped around a tree and scrapped.

The engine turns freely by hand and I pulled the heads to check the cylinders and timing cover to get a peek at the bottom end. I would prefer to sell the engine complete, but will sell individual components. I originally bought this engine just because it was so complete and original, but my present “lifetime” projects do not include the need for this engine. Also included, but not shown in the photos, is a good 692 water pump core correctly dated for this engine and an original GM correctly dated flywheel but not the correct nodular iron version for the LT-1. $7,000 for the complete engine, obo. Update

I will be attending MCACN later this month and can deliver anything but the short block to the show. Purchase of the short block (or complete engine) will be pick-up only….located in MD. If interested, feel free to pm me or contact me direct at (443) 521-3158 or [email protected].

Block: Std bore with factory TRW forged 11.0:1 pistons, PN 3959456. Cylinders are
clean.
Casting number 3970010, casting date D20 (April 2, 1970)
Assy stamp V0408CTB, April 8, 1970.
1182 forged crank, pink rods and windage tray still intact.

Heads: Casting# 3927186 with either C260 or C280 casting date….difficult to read, but
would be either March 26 or March 28, 1970. Factory screw in studs, guide plates
and “O” rocker arms. No evidence of porting, machining or flaws.

Intake: Original 3972110 casting number in excellent condition. All threads are good with
no repairs, porting or modifications.

Valve Covers: Nice originals with no evidence of cracks, corrosion or pitting.

Carburetor: Very nice List 4555, (PN 3972121) dated 022, (2nd Week of February, 1970).
Very clean and unmolested unit with all correct metering blocks, etc.

Distributor: Original 1112019 dated Dec 14, 1969

Interesting as it's the exact same date as my original 70 Z-28 engine. My car is an 04B date, so tight inventory management on engines.

Very cool...how do the heads and other components match?

Falls in line with my V0406 CTB engine with C160 (or 18, hard to tell) cast block and C50 and C100 heads. Carb is a 023. The waterpump on mine is a B140. My dizzy is also a 9M14 but is non-original and I thought a bit too early but apparently not. Good luck with the sale Steve.
