Default Can Am BBC

I was told that this may be the place i can gain info on this block. There are no casting numbers that i can find. It is a sleeved block. does have a fuel pump boss butt is also a drysump block. 4.44 bore spacing. A year ago i sent over 100 pictures of this to Guinn Engineering, And then he broke off all correspondence. Any info would be helpful!

In 69 they ran a 3.47 stroke for 430 CI then in 70-71 ran a 3.76 stroke for 465 CI, You can also see the four extra hold-down bosses in the lifter valley. There also should be oil cooler provisions on the oil filter boss. That would be an early block that used liners cast from 356 alloy after 72 they were cast with no liners and was cast from 390 alloy

Calls for a definition of terms...Jim Hall was an early tester of the ZL 1 engine for GM in his CanAm car and Lemans type car. Those were originally liner blocks as I recall. What were generally referred to as CanAm blocks were developed by Reynolds in partnership with McLaren Racing using the high silicon aluminum as used in the Vega. I had one of those in my garage several years ago..modified for a roller cam.Chevy continued to sell the lineredZL1, then in 1974 gave,Don Yenko the right to produce and sell them as GM wanted to discontinue them.

Need better pictures.
There was a ZL1 block for sale 4-5 years ago at Racing Junk that they have had larger pistons in. 4.500.If my memory is correct. It was damaged and without Sleeves That was a 1997 Block.
