Default Mecum no help

I listed this block with crank, rods and pistons (std bore) for sale here. https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=176039
Someone sent me a pm stating the car sold at Mecum Jan. 2023 lot W118. https://www.mecum.com/lots/533360/19...e-convertible/
I called Mecum and left a message, also sent a message through there online
message system no response. So I called today and talked to (Paul?) I ask could
he share my info with the owner that I have his original short block. His only offer
was to offer my block for sale at their auction which would consist of 18% + 200.00
entry fee?. No interest in helping someone get there original short block back. WOW

I would post on the corvette registry in hopes that the new owner will see it and reach out.

Good on you to try to reunite the parts.

I have posted on the ncrs site and the corvette forum. Any other recommendations. It's been sitting in my garage for 16 to 18 years was planning on building it back to it's stock configuration and put in one of my other camaros, but I come across a 67 L78 FSO camaro so all of my attention is on completing the restoration on it.

That was really rude and uncalled for on his part to use this as an opportunity to profit from it.

No way to track down the new owner from the vin and auction ? If it surfaced that recently, there must be a way to track it...

I put the block on the NCRS site. The cold truth is sometimes owners don’t care about original components. I’ve advertised original paperwork and even contacted owners of cars and they don’t care about the paperwork I’ve offered for free.

I contacted two members on this site last year when I found the original 375HP CA 396
motor to the 1 of 2 Bill Thomas 427 converted cars . Both members told me they knew who owned it but werent willing to either give me the owners name, or give the owner my contact info. It would have even been understandable if they wanted to try and make a profit for the info, but neither was interested in that either. While I dont usually hunt down owners of motors and transmissions i have, I thought that car might be an exception.........I have a few camaro guys that want it as its a very rare MR code CA 375HP , but if anyone knows the owner of the red Thomas car ,here you go.

Awesome of you to try to reunite the motor with the car! Several years ago I was in a similar position as you, but with a car that had been sold through RM Auctions. RM also would not give me the new owner’s contact info. That protection of info does make some sense, but instead RM did offer to take my contact info and pass it on to the new owner. They did just that, and the owner did contact me, and I was able to reunite the motor to his car. Maybe it makes sense to try Mecum one more time, but using this approach instead. If Mecum still sticks with their original suggestion that would be too bad.
