Default Nice BAT 69 Z/28 sells for $260k+?

Anyone have ideas on this one? I am going to have to stop saying the market is softening if this happens again!

I’ve got a hot take-hear me out. I have a feeling that this auction was propelled by the strong current national “vibe” rather than say, alcohol, which is what we usually attribute this kind of aberration when it happens at BJ. If you read through all of the comments, there’s a palpable pushback from the spectators of this auction to the voices telling them why they’re foolish to bid too much on this flashy orange car. Many of them seem to resent the “elites” (aka name-checked Yenko.net!) trying to tell them that “Black Grilles Matter” and “No Smog/No Sale” so they shouldn’t waste their money.

My tongue is a little bit in my cheek with this analogy, but not too much. Read the comments and tell me it doesn’t feel different than most of the recent musclecar auctions on there. Certainly different than the hypercritical discourse on a comparative Shelby or C2 Corvette auction.

'Correct' or not, that car looked gorgeous and that's what drove the bidding. The seller, who is well known on this site, has some darn nice stuff that always brings good money, so that reputation means a lot too.

I wish I was the seller but with that said this is where two fools with to much free cash was bidding on this thing and got caught up in the moment. I sure wouldn't buy one like it and expect to pull such a number.

The winning bidder conceded to the 2nd place bidder earlier, then came back in during the final seconds with one more bid to win it.
The second place bidder should send him a thank you Christmas card.
