Default 55 Chevy

With all the cool posts recently about 55 Chevy's I thought it might be nice to start a thread about Tri-5 Chevrolets. This is mine I have owned it for 42 years 3rd owner original Tucson sold car. Originally it was a 265 PG car. It now has a crate L88 (ZL-1 cam), M22, and a 12 bolt 411 Moroso Brute Strength posi rearend. It has all original body panels zero rust, and the doors shut like they are new. The exhaust is screamin purple hornies newer style bolted to the headers.

Let's see what everyone else has. Thanks, Larry

Mine and my son's 55s.

Mine was a Delray 6cyl 3spd. Harvest Gold, white top, turquoise and beige interior. Dad bought it in 1975 for $60, and sold it to me in 2017.

Cale's is a 210 6cyl 3spd, Neptune Green with turquoise interior.

I found this '55 for Dad a few years ago. It was a 265 powerglide car. He has had several in his lifetime and wanted one last car to fix and drive. We were going to build it together. His health has gone down and he's not able to work anymore and decided to sell the car. I told him that I wanted it, so he gave it to me. I would love to get it together in time for him to drive it, but I don't know if that will happen. He wanted a 327 in it, so I built a nice mild one to go in it, along with the M20 that I built for my Camaro many years ago. I'm narrowing an Impala 12 bolt for it with 3.55 gears. The frame is finished and new floor is installed. I just have to finish my shop so I can get the car done.

Love your '55! A long time drag racing friend has a twin '55 BelAir post he's owned since '58, solid black with blue interior. Built as 265 Powerpack, 3 Spd OD, been 327/Muncie since the early '60's.

The first car I drove was a 56 Belair two door post. I’d set in Dads lap and drive n shift three on the tree. He’d gas, clutch n brake. Days gone by but not forgotten.

----I can't tell, but I see what appears to be a crack from the corner of the valve cover to the front exhaust bolt hole. Please tell us it isn't .....Bill S

No, it's just a casting line. These are Speedway aluminum heads. I believe they are Chinese castings. I have a set of 461 heads that we considered using, but Dad wanted to use these aluminum heads that look like the early high performance heads.

Some of you guys have seen the car I am building now, but seeing how we're on a run of 55's here lately, here are some pics for those interested in 2 door post cars. It's a low mile car that was owned for 38 years in CT, and was restored in original colors about 7 years ago by it's long term second owner.

I have since stripped it down again, and performed a modern frame off into black and white and will finish it off with a black and white DelRay interior that has now started to go in. It now has a fresh drive line with a 383 stroker, Tremek TKX 5-spd, and a Moser 4:10 Posi rear. All fresh suspension, disk brakes and lots of goodies throughout. I need to finish up the wiring and put the front end back together this winter so I can have it dialed in for spring.
