Default Elmer's Mecum Auction?

Anyone from the Chicago area going to up to Wisconsin to pick up their purchases? If so, let me know. Trying to get a go-kart brought back from up there.

I'm still shaking my head over that one! Was there something special about it?

I was bidding on the '66 GTO, but it went way past my comfort zone.

From what we heard, the last time we were down there 4-5 yrs ago, is that Elmer had made some gentleman's agreement to sell EVERYTHING to someone in Germany, as that was what he wanted. To sell it all in one piece. By the time he passed, that had fallen apart and they only wanted select items and some of the more choice items did leave after his death. I get the feeling this went to auction as a result of that and there may be big foreign money involved with some of the crazy prices...

There was a green Superbird Pedal car that the Speedway Museum bought at the auction for 50K. A member here has the actual Superbird that he bought from Elmer a few years ago.
