Default NOS 487290 Pontiac "Formula" Trans Am Steering Wheel in the box

Found this early 1970's fat Formula wheel during my ongoing garage cleaning.

It's in the original box which has a USPS ship date of March 3, 1975. Box has the 487290 label on it. Comes with hub, center cap, and horn button assembly.

The wheel is beautiful and as perfect as an original piece can be.

Perfect for a 1973 or 1974 Super Duty restoration, or for a 1970 to 1972 Trans Am or GTO

The wheel measurements taken with a vernier caliper are as follows:
1.150 when measured against the seam
1.120 when measured against the front and back round sides.

When you wrap a standard business card around it you get a 3/8" gap. No molding code on the backside. Has the double seam visible on the outer circumference.

$2,000 plus shipping and insurance or you can pickup in person in central NJ.

In the words of the inimitable Ed McMahon: You are correct, Sir!

Just about any Pontiac from 1970 to 1975 could be ordered with one of these. Around 1977 they switched to a much thinner wheel with a big bevel cut out of the foam where it meets the spokes. You see a lot of those wheels for sale but they are far more common and hence far less valuable than the original "fat wheels".

Are you sure it wasn't? They were available on the 1969 Trans Am.

You are correct Bill, it was not offered on any other '69 Pontiacs except the T/A.
