Default '66 Chevelle 283/3-sp Manual, Orig Black on Red

Sharp car, but a lot of coin for a 283....

But then it IS Gateway. We wouldn't expect the price to be reasonable, especially in that highly desirable color combo...
It does have a 4 barrel added, so I guess it is a 220 hp now. Was never an option from new.
This is the same model of car I passed my driver test in..283 3 speed... Aztec Bronze with black interior.

Mitch, without digging into RPO codes, I'm quite sure the 220 hp 283 was available in the '66 Chevelle (not in '67). "Power pack" heads, 4 barrel carb and dual exhaust.
I know of one, purchased from the original owner, has 3 speed OD too. A sweet driving car! - Bill W

FWIW, Colvin's book shows it available in the 66 Chevelles.

The L77 must be a fairly rare option. Don't think I have ever seen one in a '66

I had a really nice, very original 66 283 4 barrel, PG car. Blue/blue, bucket seats, console, Tac and gauges, ps,pb,ac.

So this brings up another topic...fuel line size and engine size. I have always heard and used the general guide that a 3/8ths line was only for the 327 and 396 cars. 283 was 5/16ths. Would a 4 barrel 283 also get a 3/8 line ???
