Default Re: 3946052 Block - Possible Can-Am ?

I am curious if anyone here has seen a 3946052 engine block like this one. I’m fairly certain this is not a winter foundry block. It has two #2 ink stampings on the left and right side of the front of the block. (Almost like it’s a test block #2) Also it has 19639-D on the front suffix pad location. Thanks in advance, any help would be appreciated.

IMHO a 'true' Can-Am aluminum bb casting does not have provision for a mechanical fuel pump.

Is there a casting date on the LH side near the motor mount?

Sorry guys I had to take an unexpected trip out of state. When I return I’ll answer the questions. Re: a date on the block… I looked all over it and couldn’t find a date but I will look some more.

The bore is 4.250

I also see 19639-D is stamped into the corner lip for the oil pan.

Don Yenko took over the production of the ZL-1 block in about 1974

There were still some teams running the ZL-1 block in SCCA where the Can Am block was not allowed

Need pictures of the entire block. Front, rear, top & bottom. The part number appears to be located on the housing cores. If that’s the case, the actual mold may not even be for that part number. Housing cores can be common to different applications.
