Default Let’s see your first car.

It was a 350 SS/RS ermine white with black vinyl top and black interior 4 speed with console.I painted it blue and removed the vinyl top. The pic with the black wheels are circa 1973 and the one with Keystones all around is circa 1975. Keystone pic is with a big block 70 402 from my brothers Chevelle. With the big block I ran headers and 456 gears. It was a really good running car. Ripped it n street raced, went through other engines, a 68 Z 302. The big block was my favorite and that’s the reason I chose my present 67 4K.
Show us your first car everyone.

This is the same as my first car in early 1970. 1954 2 dr sedan. It had the 235 with babbit bearings and didn't last very long...3-4 months as I recall.

OMG. That is frikken amazing. We may be cousins in a parallel universe. My first car (Jan 6, 1969; twelve days before I turned 16 and got my license) was a light green 54 two door sedan Chevy. Paid $75 for it. Previous owner blasted through a police barricade, so the hood was concave in the front, and headlight buckets were toast. I had to change out the popsicle sticks and rubber bands that held the headlights in position every two weeks (didn't know how to describe it back then, but today we would say no UV protection on the rubber bands).

Brakes failed. I rebuilt the master in the driveway, but it didn't hold (I am certain it had deep pits in the bore, but at 16, wasn't smart enough to know the difference). I drove it for a month (including taking other kids to school on car pool day) with no brakes other than the hand brake. The last two weeks of that there was not handle on the park brake.... just a pair of vice grips. The kid's parents would have gone into a coma had they known. One of those "kids" is still a very good friend of mine). Drove it til it threw a rod. Actually drove it another 20 miles AFTER it threw a rod. What a wild noise, that broken rod swinging around and hitting the block with each revolution. But it made it home. Sold it for $10. The guy who bought it (he ended up in prison for "chop shop" stuff") hooked a chain to the front bumper to tow it away from my parent's house.... and the front bumper fell off... seriously. Hooked the chain to the frame and drove it off. He sold the AM radio for $10 so considered it a win.

Now, my second car....... really nice 57 Chevy 210 2 door sedan, Tropical Turquoise with white top and side panel. Wish I had never let that one go. Not a fast car by any means, 283 PG, but so many memories. Still have a hard time passing on a nice 210 two door, two tone car, especially if it is tropical turquoise and white. Guess I could settle for black and white.

My first car was a Fathom Green '69 Z with black standard interior, 4.10 gears, AM radio with rear speaker. Also Z21 style trim, N34 wood wheel, and spoilers. It came with a set of headers with the air pump plumbed in but I removed the air pump stuff and put it on the shelf in my parents' garage. I think my parents tossed that stuff because I never saw it again. I kept the car for three years and traded it for a Tahoe Turquoise '67 Z.

70 Nova, bought new in June 1970. Hugger Orange, black standard interior with rubber floor covering (no carpet), 307, factory floor mounted 3 speed. Picture is at my parents house....you can see window sticker still in the rear quarter window. Within 3 weeks, OEM exhaust was gone replaced by a Midas dual system with glasspacks, and the rally wheels were replaced by some Keystone mags that looked similar to Torq-Thrusts but with dark spokes. Sold it 5 months later because it wasn't fast enough The guy I sold it to, his girlfriend rolled it a couple months later and it was fixed but repainted blue. They eventually got married and put over 100K miles on it.

What I REALLY wanted was the Citrus Green 70 Z28/RS on the showroom floor, but the $140/month payments scared me so I bought the Nova with $77/month payments....and proceeded to make double payments every month

Were they Keystone Digger mags like these, Bill? Probably looked pretty cool.

Wow, thanks for the picture....Pretty sure those are the ones! And yeah, I thought they went well with the black side molding and black interior.
