Default Marty’s pedal tractor

Quick story

About a year ago I stopped by a friends scrap yard to BS and off on the side of the yard was an old Murray 2 ton pedal tractor. Thrown into a pile the owner pulled it out to save it for a rainy day. After seeing it he told me if it was for my son I could have it.

After bringing it home it sat for about a year. Marty wasn’t even 6 months old at the time, but fast forward a year and a time is rapidly approaching where he can use it. The years haven’t been very kind to it, and being thrown from the back of a truck into a pile of metal didn’t help. So I decided to disassemble, sandblast, and paint everything while at the same time fixing some damaged threads and packing all the bearings.

Marty, not having much of a say, ended up with an AMC pedal tractor. Painted in 1969 AMC engine Blue, which has a lot of metalflake in it, Accented with white. I’m still waiting on Rebel The Machine decals as well as 390 4 barrel air cleaner decals for the sides of the chain guard.

I hope it’s something he grows up enjoying and something we can look back at together and smile. I will update with some final photos once all my decals arrive.

My grandfather built that swingset for my father around 1961 or 62. I have a swing we put Marty in on it as well.

Thank you guys for the kind words. It’s appreciated.
