Sorry, just saw this response. This car is a little better behaved, not necessarily well behaved. I don't think it is as fast, but it's been over 40 years since I drove the original. Eventually I will have it out to Sacramento Raceway for the Wednesday Night Fun Drags and get some time slips. If it breaks into the 13s I think I will be happy.

A lot has happened with this car in the year since I have had my "new" Biscayne. The 454 that was in it flattened a cam lobe and was replaced by a real L72 427/425 that I lucked into. It is a CE block engine made in 1970 that was pulled from a 1966 Corvette. It has been rebuilt once, .030 over with hard valve seats, otherwise stock. I have installed a new header back Pypes exhaust system, painted the wheels body color, put narrower tires in front, removed the fuel cell and installed a stock gas tank, replaced the rear springs to restore the correct ride height, rebuilt the M20 because it was leaking fluid out the input shaft (was missing the oil slinger). I have replaced the fender corner lights with blank trim pieces more likely for a Biscayne. Most recent project was to convert the long water pump to the short pump configuration and change to deep groove pulleys and the correct power steering pump. I will always identify it as a tribute car with a Day 2 theme. It's not really a clone because there are things that will never be totally correct, my goal is for people to recognize what it represents and have fun driving it! Here are a few pictures of how it looks now.

Howdy Pat! I feel bad as you have been here for a year and I never knew it or welcomed you aboard! Love the "rendition". That is my personal word for a car that I do that mimics a car from the past. I have 2 cars that really were significant race cars back then, but these "current builds" are hardly ever exactly how they were back then. I applaud you for your honesty and transparency in describing your car. Correct parts does not a real car make........but they sure do make it a real FUN car!!!! Great to have you my friend!!!

Pat, Looks great! You've taken her in the perfect direction... but you didn't say how she "goes" now with an L72, better?
