WINTERNATIONALS Pomona 1970, was the inaugural Pro-Stock event. I was lucky enough to be there. These pix had been stuck together for 50 years, separating them was was challenging. Here are the ones that survived. - Bill W

Speaking of Winternationals, Tom Akin's LEAD SLED at NEITA Raceway (now Cedar Falls Raceway) Well known, it's one of two L72 '69 Kingswood wagons.

The LEAD SLED was a Dick Harrell Team Car and Top Stock winner at the 1970 AHRA Winternationals in AZ.
I remember this car brand new, rolling into the Schukei service dept. for John Day's race prep. - Bill W

One can also roll a baseball bat around in between the wheel lip and the tire, for less percussive therapy.

I love looking at these old photo's. Who would have ever guessed the value increase of a $3k car when new.

Especially when they dropped in half or more during the gas crunch of the 70s.
That’s really what did it, was the fact that these cars were discarded and not saved. High school kids across America were given cheap HP and good times due to a really bad economy. People who bought them new in many cases took a beating selling when down in the 70s.

Where I grew up every Italian still had a muscle car in the garage though. They never gave them up 😂 in fact my dad still had his …
