They use TDR to find breaks in the wiring...or so I've heard (Time domain Reflectometry_ [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/hmmm.gif[/img] [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif[/img]

TDRs work really well -- but still, the techie has to tear out the wire bundle and trace down the wire number ... remember, many of those aircraft all the wiring was white and you had to find the right number. Then there was the infamous Capton (spell) wire. OMG TAZ

My room mate at Zweibrucken was a crew chief on the RF4Cs there. Our room smelled like JP-4, his field jacket/fatigues were soaked in that stuff. He would always have gashes/cuts and an occasional pitot tube wound. I never forget the several rolls of F-4 tape laying around either. That was some good stuff the original duct tape.
