Depending on the exact model, could have possibly been 1of 12. Probably worth a follow-up.

That rare? I know of a 4-speed post Rallye sitting a junkyard. Not much left of it. It appears to have been a base model with no window trim. F-85? Is an F-85 Rallye possible?

I have a F-85 Rallye. Bench seat auto though.

The guy isn't going to part with it, and the car is pretty rough. Original engine missing - said it has a '66 400. He is one of those guys that thinks he knows what he has, and I get the idea that maybe Barrett-Jackson Syndrome has taken hold.

Supposedly, just 12 Cutlass S post 4-speed cars were built. 160 Cutlass S post Rallye 350s. Over 1000 f85 Rallye 350 models. This is one of the most confusing areas (even for some Olds people), regarding build numbers. Couldn't get bucket seats in an f85; either post it hardtop. Buckets WERE available in the "S" models both body styles. The "S" had a different seat cover and door panel pattern and carpet. It does get confusing; 1972 is another hard one to figure out...no buckets in a post model.
In my opinion, Rallye 350s never got the interest or "respect" they deserved. They had a great combination of standard items, but most got parted out to build 442s of W-cars.

It's probably broke and too expensive to fix ...

That 12 number is not documented.

And, yes, I know you said "supposedly." :-)

Yea, I know 442W30, I don't think there is any hard evidence of the exact number of Rallye 350s in the Cutlass "S" Post trim level with a 4-speed. Just like "supposedly" ( and I know for a fact that some WERE made, but not assembly line produced) there were Rallye 350 W-31 cars built. Build numbers weren't exact science like a portion of the hobby thinks they were/are. Engineering and design study cars absolutely DID exist, but documenting those cars is next to impossible. Back door builds won't have a proper trail making them even more mysterious (and desirable to me).
