The last machine shop friend of mine moved his business out of state to Havre De Grace Maryland a few years ago and I am the engine builder. It's amazing the lack of this kind of business in my location. I have to ask here or on other sites for the info/suggestions I need. There use to be shops all over the Dover Delaware area, but nothing now. It's a real struggle to even find somebody that rebuilds starters, and alternators...

|  Re: Day 2 parts discussion     I don't want to sound like I'm making things difficult, but assuming the heads ARE to GM specs along with the rest of it without verifying is taking a gamble. Usually things result in less than spec compression etc when assuming the parts are as GM literature indicates. I would just hate to see you leave some performance in the table. |

I have done a few engines and used the composite head gasket and never have run into issues but those engines were just the run of the mill rebuild lo-po small blocks I read about rebuilding from the Motor manuals and asking questions from the many older mechanics that use to be around. Nobody around anymore to ask those questions or to show guidance that I can find.
