Lots of good information here. Great reference photos!

These engine bay photos show exactly what Factory components were used, such as the rubber fuel hose and the PCV hose (GAS GAS GAS).

Also the alignment lines on the top radiator hose and short heater hose.

Heavy duty 4 core radiator that was mandatory with the high performance Tri-Power engine.

Rubber fuel hose from filter to 4 way brass fuel block which was used on a Pontiac build.
Fremont built cars typically used the steel U shaped fuel line around the front carb.

The 5178 written on the front carb bowl.
Flat top rubber cap to seal the hollow rear carb mounting stud.
The 3 way plastic plug wire separator.

Default 1966 Factory Original

This ‘66 Unrestored Survivor GTO belonged to a late friend of mine.

Built with “Solid Special Paint”, Tiger Gold.

The engine bay photo was taken in early 1967.
This pic is a great reference as to how they looked New.

Starting in 1966 the engine color was now a metallic silver blue.

----Chris,,, That second pic is really good. Was that from back then? It almost seems too good for an old pic. I moved to the Chicago area in 1976. Hinsdale to be exact. My boss's buddy was Billy Jacobs (RIP) who owned Bill Jacobs Chevrolet so I was down in Joliet many times and don't remember Gordon Pontiac. I wonder if it was already gone?....Bill S

Bill Jacobs (now Hawk) was 2001 W. Jefferson so 1705 was just a few blocks to the East. Looks like it is a used car dealership now.

Default 38 years ago my car received glory.

This Reef Turquoise 1966 GTO that I once owned made it into several magazines back in the early 80’s.

It was also used for the box art of a Revell model.

I packed all my belongings into the trunk and back seat of this car and headed west from my hometown Springfield, Illinois to the SF Bay Area in 1978.

It started out as a 4BBL. Automatic but I had it changed to a Tri-Power 4 speed a few years after living in California.
That’s what a lot of us did back in the day.

Today, it’s all about Factory Original Survivor cars for me.

Chris.

Bill,

I assumed someone may think that’s my house ….. Nope, darn it.

My house would fit inside that guys living room.

I knew I had a photo shoot coming up for the ‘66 and my job was to find a location.
Me and my wife drove past this house in Los Gatos, Ca. and I stopped to knock on the door.
Mr. George Magnet answered and said I was more than welcome to use his driveway in a few weeks.

Inside his garage was a Ferrari and a Lamborghini.
Super nice gentleman that happened to like my GTO.
