Did the 68 COPO cars come with 15" wheels like the 69's? Does anyone know when during the 68 model year the COPO options started being used by Yenko?

Good clarification on the COPO status of these cars. I didn't clarify my thoughts well enough, I was only referring to engine. Pretty cool stuff! So, is there really any legitimate hope of finding YS 8042? That car could be any VIN and any build date, couldn't it? A generic question... does anyone have hard suspicions about this car or is a truly a total mystery? For example, does anyone have knkowledge about this car but it is not verified, thus not written down? In other words, is there a possibility that the car we are talking about COULD YS 8042? Any thoughts on where YS 8042 might be or colors/options? I realize that there isn't anything documented about 8042, but is there speculation/folklore about it? Even if the informatioin exists but no one wants to give it out openly...how about just an acknowlegement that SOME info does exist?

There was a 68 copo, non converted yenko camaro at vettefest this last november. I heard they would not judge the car because they are mis-informed about these cars existence. Roger

...and I may as well add the rest of the story too....the car scored a Silver Spinner on it's own merit...but apparently the guy who restored it,the owner and the rest of the 3 or 4 groupies decided that there had to be a conspiracy by the SYC to sway the judge and score the car low... ...I'm sure a judge values his integrity more than that.. this garbage went on for weeks since they didn't have much else to talk about.Shame of it is the car was very nice...probably not exactly what the judges were looking for...I heard some of the issues from people who attended but no sense in bringing any of it up here...seems like personal attacks are the flavor of the week with these clowns..but we can handle it...I know I can for sure. It's always easier to blame others and come up with mysterious excuses when you don't do well...that why it's much better around here without the few guys that only wanted to start [censored] here...this site is where the real car guys are...not parts whores, not people who just want to make money off you or flip a car or make up some far fetched stories about the history of their cars to try and increase their value...but real people who love their cars no matter what they own.I'm glad I'm here.

Well said Belair. The $hit talk DOES need to stop. Here is my principle regarding the internet. Have the balls to say what you type about someone to there face. You WILL eventually end up running into them face to face someday...........

Difference is Frank...I'm still not ignorant enough to use names....this crap should stay private but sometimes you gotta take a stand in public....period. End of story...personal attacks just don't cut it and deserve a response.

Some day it would be really great for everyone to "bury the hatchet". I recently did just that with a good friend and I feel a whole lot better about it and myself. This hobby is too great and too big for there to be so much controversy over these cars. We are all hobbyists and enthusiasts and are all here for the same reason. Both sides (as well as others) throw punches but somewhere along the line people need to take credit for their mistakes, don't look for blame, shake hands and go on and continue the hobby. These cars are all here for our benefit and for the benefit of our kids to learn about the history and heritage of these cars. If we expect our kids to take a side, we have failed. I have accepted and taken the blame for my mistakes and still wake up feeling great every morning. Its time the others do the same and enjoy the hobby. Both of these sites have a ton to offer and the cumulative information between the two is staggering. Someone has to make the first move.........
Rick
