A Star Is Born, Hi Performance Cars April 1972
This article gives Jim Wangers a lot more credit for the GTO than John DeLorean, is that how it went down? I thought it was Collins/DeLorean's idea with Wangers doing the marketing? |

1972 Pontiac Trans Am 455 HO 4 Speed Road Test, Hi Performance Cars September 1972
I've had 2 Lucy Blue 4 speeds over the years and think they're one of the most well rounded muscle cars I've ever driven. Not quite Super Duty fast though. |

The conversation took place at a routinely scheduled engineering session/vehicle review at the Milford Proving Ground, which Wangers would not have been part of. We still held those (every Friday morning) even during my generation. K

Incidentally, had I been there (in the same role that I held for most of my career) they would have both turned to me, standing in the back of the group, at the end of the conversation and said "when can we have it?"
And I would have said "uh - ahem - by the end of the day, sir". K

This isn’t really Pontiac related but look at that wild Willie borsch section. He had narcolepsy and they’d have to tap the back of the car w the truck when the lights came down to wake him up and he’d go like hell!
