Thanks for sharing Bill.
It hits me by making me remember my dad and The Camaro, which also sat neglected for many, many years. And when I look at, and sit in it, the old memories coming flooding back. But, we've also made many new ones too, not the least of which was picking up our boy in the same car that my parents picked me up in 42 years prior. I also feel among friends here too. Cheers all! This wonderful Chevrolet commercial brought out old emotions for me also.
In 1979 I fell in love with my Elvie. She never knew what a 60’s muscle car was, but she quickly learned from me and loved riding in them, going to all the car shows and she especially loved the smell of the old Original morrokide interior. At one time I had 5 real nice early GTO’s and I told her, honey I’m going to sell 4 of these cars so we can add on to our house. I asked her which one should I keep. She shouted the White ‘66 with Red interior. Good choice dear. I had gotten away from the GTO hobby around 2004 at which time I properly stored the ‘66. In early 2009 Elvie left me suddenly in our kitchen in front of me and our daughter. I was devastated and lost just as that commercial symbolizes. Now it was just me and my daughter. I was encouraged by our daughter in late 2009 to pull the ‘66 out of storage, as she said Dad, this is what mommy would want. Everyone’s life’s journey is unique and I have moved on to a new chapter in mine. I have since remarried to another wonderful woman that my daughter absolutely loves, so things have worked out for me. That White ‘66 GTO interior still smells as good as 1979 and puts a smile on my face every time I open the door. Below is Elvie in a mint one owner Survivor ‘67. Another one I wish I’d kept. I think allowing some folks like Mr. Wente and myself to tell their story’s is still part of ones healing process. Thank you all, Chris

Thanks you all for sharing your journeys. We don't know how much time we have, so we enjoy every day (the one that that our daughter Holly taught us-by being so sick throughout her life, but keeping a smile on her face the whole time)
To all of you... ![]()

It's crazy how much this commercial speaks to me. I think we all get it to some extent. I mentioned my Dad earlier and that he's why I'm a car guy. This is one of my favorite pics with him, mainly because it's the only picture of the car my Dad used to talk about.
The one that got away. He did the responsible thing and sold the car for something more practical before I turned 2 years old. I think a lot about that car now and how I wish that we had tried to track it down when he was still alive. I still hope that I can find this car someday. |

![]() I've received this a couple of times in emails. One of the first things I noticed was the flags with the Red background as he pulled out of the barn to pick up his daughter. Then I went back to re-watch the entire clip and saw the 'ghost image' of the BB emblem while the car was still sitting in the barn. Gotta give someone in the GM organization (or the promotion company) a big thumbs-up for the attention to detail in this film. (And yes, like most everyone else, ..... this one tugged at the heartstrings.) ![]()

Great commercial by Chevy. Yes 427 CI for sure. Loved those Impala 66 models. A tear was shed watching this full clip.
