Not as many Oldsmobiles as previous shows. But they had their moment in the spotlight the past couple of years. A very good year for Buicks & Pontiacs though. A fun show but it seemed a little less populated this year. Maybe it is the economy or the state of the country.

Not as many as when we did the W-Machine and W-30 rag top or Hurst Olds display, but Olds was well represented throughout the show and attendance was up for the 6th year in a row : )

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped to Make MCACN VI the very best one yet.

Like to see pics of the 64 GTO in the background. We are building two 64's. One is a white hardtop. Came from factory as a four barrel auto but owner immediately had a tri power put on it. After the dealer could not get it to work right my grandfather got it working. He was a Chrysler guy but known for his tune ups.

My eyes are still in B&W mode as I type this. What a retina searing, intoxicating, and vision impairing show this turned out to be. I can't imagine the streets back in the day looking like this. How the heck we were focused enough to put a man on the moon with all of these mechanical masterpieces being engineered is more of an enigma wrapped in a riddle than the JFK assassination is!!!

I feel as if I'm six years old and know that Christmas is over. That empty feeling in your gut as friends pull their trailers out for the long ride home. Just so sad it ended so soon and it literally was a BLINK. I fly for a living, and you know, this is probably the fastest I've traveled in my life.

This entire show after I tallied up all the receipts for us to come up from TX was over $3800. I wasn't up for any award. I wasn't being judge to have my car in "Kryptonite" status or anything like that. That was all on my dime. But to see a friend I hadn't seen in 13yrs and my lovely bride be the center iof attention for a day? Priceless......

Truly an honor to meet some of you. II hope I see everyone again!

Cheers

Thanks for sharing all the great photos. Really wish I would have been there. However, we have a 5 year old and 5 month old at home, so the wife said "no way". I'll be there for sure next year with my then 6 year old. Will make a great father/son weekend.

The Eldon Palmer 1971 Indy Pace Car (yes, it lives!) was also on display, along with several other real Indy Pace Cars that actually paced the race, not just replica versions sold to the public. We spent a lot of time with Gary from Level One Restorations at this spectacular Indy 500 Pace Car Exhibit.

I think the Charlotte Pace Car Camaro was my favorite though.

A couple big boats! The 1967 Pontiac 2+2 4-speed was outstanding, the Buick was breathtaking. Another one of those cars that you can't simply open up a catalog and order repro parts for, the chrome work just for the front grille and bumpers must have cost more than some of the cars at the event! Those are real wire baskets too.

A beautiful black Cougar, and then a blue XR-7 convertible 428CJ 4-speed from the Styles Collection (the red one next to it is also theirs). The blue XR-7 was tagged as a "Test Car" on the Marti Report.

Our friend Tim Dye from the Pontiac Museum brought out ex-Pontiac Engineer Tom Goad's 1973 Grand Am Wagon, a special one-off that Tom had built for him (it was nice being in the Pontiac Engineering Department in the 60's and 70's), and the invoice shows the car was billed to Tom, not to a dealer. Only the second such invoice we've ever found like that. The car was built as a loaded 1973 LeMans station wagon, then Pontiac Engineering converted it to the Grand Am nose, they added the 1973 Ram Air setup (1 of only 5 known to exist, and Tom Goad owns 2 of the 5 known Ram Air setups), and they added a powered sunroof, another option never available on the wagons. A truly unique car, it was proposed to Pontiac, and thus became a prototype.

Was an amazing show! I typically don't like car shows (as they bore me to death) this one I would try to do again though. Had a great time meeting and talking to some great people. Didn't take many pics as I knew there would be many taken by others. Did get surprised Sunday when Apex Autosports picked my Runner for a sponsor pic! Thanks Apex!
I think the sexiest car there was the black Cougar Eliminator. Man that car was superb!
