If I'm not mistaken........the cast iron manifold is correct for 67 L-79's.......they were rated at 325 H.P. not 350 like the aluminum manifold/Holley carbed cars

67 L79's in Chevelle's and El Camino's are aluminum intake manifolds. I have owned several documented cars. The red El Camino is a local car to me and is an L30 car (327/275 hp car).

Why was the 67 L79 rated at 325hp in the Chevelle/Elco when it still had the aluminum intake/Holley??? I understand the lower rating for the Novas with cast iron intake and QJ...but, why is it lower in the Chevelle

Some say that GM didn't want the L79 small block rated higher In horsepower than the base model SS 396 car. The L79 has 11.1 compression, Holley carb, and a hydraulic cam and all were 4 speed cars with 12 bolt rears.

Gm could,t have a chevelle rated at the same hp in 1967 as the corvette which was about a $1,000 higher price tag....They were afraid the corvette sales would have suffered so they rated the engines 25 hp lower but in fact they were identical...

I don't know if any were produced...I was just looking in Colvin's book at engine options and hp ratings....
I would imagine a stripped down 66 300 deluxe, rubber mat, L79, 4 spd, 4.10 gear, would have been a real eye opener for the garden variety SS396
