Looking good Jim,
How did he cut the qtrs in the door jamb? I know post qtr jambs are different than hard-tops. Any pix? Keep it going. That will be a nice car when done. Phil Woj. |

Ken told me he was going to leave the inside of the door jamb intact and splice it in near the edge.

Just to clarify, nothing is attached. It's all just mocked up. Actually everything fit up well although the trunk drops always seem to take a fair amount of blessings to get them to mate up the way I want them to on Chevelles.
On the door jamb question, Jim's dog leg area is in excellent ahape. Not a big issue to leave the original jamb area and butt weld the new qtr on to it. My real job for 30yrs was welding. Not an issue to stick it together. |

Ken,
Certainly nothing wrong with a butt weld along the door jamb seam, however to avoid more mud on the exterior of the car. This is how I did it on my last Post Sedan, it`s a bit more work but a great result, having a bit more body work inside of the door vs. the exterior of the car. The welds to the (coupe) quarter panels are made while the quarter panel is still off of the car. I also posted these pics because Phil (Woj) had asked to see pics. ![]() ![]() Dan

I think we're close to being on the same page. Nothing I do goes on the exterior, and there's very minimal body filler.
