On our '69 I eventually found that if I kept my elbow way out from my side and pulled straight back, I didn't get the hangup between gears. If you pulled even slightly to the side the shifter would hang up going through the neutral gate. Eventually one of the shift arms broke off the bottom and a nice Competition Plus shifter was installed. Still have it and it will go back into the car some day. As for the Muncie shifter, everything went in the scrap pile except for the handle. If you want to use a Muncie shifter, there is some hope.

Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now. |
