Bill, do both sides get put at 7 to 8?
or one side 7 to 8 and the other side 4 to 5?

I took the car for its first drive on the street yesterday. if you plan on driving your car DONT put repop belts on it only went 3 to 4 miles and tossed the fan belt and turned the power steering inside out.
got the front end aligned today now I have a couple bugs to work out.

Whose aftermarket belts do you have on it? I have heard people complain about Quanta belts and I have been using them for over 10 years with no known issues.

Rick, they were Quanta. if the car never sees any rpm's there fine.
I ran it up testing things out and lost them.
picked up a couple made in the USA napa belts today and no issues.

Rick,

Most of the cars that you and I restore - are mostly Trailer Queens....you won't find many weekend drag cars or PSMCDR guys using Quanta Belts.
It's a great factory correct product....just not good for over 6000 rpm.

I tried the Quanta belts on my Chevelle & Camaro and had the same twisting problem at high RPM. So worried it would damage the curved neck radiator I switched to Napa belts also.
