Does anyone know the approximate years they made the square tube, u strap bars? And were any of those available with u-bolt AND j-bolt holes, or only 4 fastener holes in the mounting plate?
When did they eliminate the ~6" of bar that stuck out the back, and does anyone know what that was for?

The extended rear went well into late 70's maybe even early 80' though the spring clamp piece that was welded to it was gone since 1974 ish.

Ground Grabber Traction Bar Vintage INFO.
Credit Mike V or Seattle; re. He seen my 68 Camaro with my incorrectly finished Ansens on, He found Vintage set and took very good photos and it clearly displays use of the sticker and plated finish. Cad or Zinc, Brite, with Clear DiChromate Type III post treatment (i.e. Silvery finish) NOT Dichromate Type II (Gold). Very cool is he had a set of instructions also. ASTM-B633 Type III refers to a clear (blue brite) chromate (passivate); Type II refers to a colored (yellow, olive drab)chromate. Jim (*Crud I incorrectly plated my three set based on the Yellow paper of the catalog * DOH!) Edit photo size & post. (JFW)
