I don't believe he did. Pap never did a whole lot with this car. That said, it is staying simply because I don't feel like swapping pulleys and this car won't spend a ton of time at high RPM anyway. Out of the 4 in the family, the Foxbody was the one he really put his stamp on, though he did redo the heads on the Chevelle.

I will likely have wiring questions and hose questions soon- I pulled it all two years ago and don't remember where everything went (and I can't read wiring diagrams worth a damn)

Awesome car, love the updates.

Have you ever tried to do a VIN search online?

I've googled the VIN, yes. I know the car's history to the mid 80s, but basically nothing before and have come up empty every time.

I did get one of those many years ago, actually. So I should amend my statement. I know it was sold at Fairchild Chevrolet in Lakewood Ohio and its GM Birthday is March 19th, 1968. But between that and the owner that put the 454 in, I know basically nothing about it.

Crazy long shot but timeline suits the ‘68 SS Camaro given away at Cleveland’s Highland Golf Club in 1968, where the Fairchild family were long-time Members.
Best I could find was the Old Newspaper clipping as below, no idea if an SS396 or 350 car but worth digging deeper for more info, join up w/ some Cleveland area F’Book groups etc.

Again, it’s a long shot, literally being a golf prize car but the eventual Winner of the ‘68 SS Camaro was Bob Williams, as 07/16/68 Newspaper clipping below.
Tough name to search but worth digging into, I’ll look deeper and post anything relevant I see.
Whether this prize winner Camaro or not, best of luck finding more history of your Grandfathers car!

As to Ads by Fairchild Chevrolet, it appears few ‘68 era have been scanned but here's the best I saw below also a Keychain pic that popped up while searching.

Can't tell but that car looks awful dark and like it has no vinyl top. I know from my trim tag my car was factory LeMans Blue and had the vinyl top.
