I remember when that Gary Hoey video first came out on MTV...back when they had the stones to play real music.

Anyone up for a little SRV?

Speaking of when MTV used to play real music...how about this?

I still can't watch this one without getting a lump in my throat.

RIP Stevie.

Ah yes...SRV! Little Wing is killer!

The first full album/CD that Holly knew every song

(I raised her right )

The SRV live from Austin TX DVD is AWESOME, too!

As I said, I'm a guitarist myself, been playing about 25 years. I cut my teeth learning the tracks off "Texas Flood."

I have a special place in my soul for SRV. Long strange story, short version...I wound up seeing SRV the same night I lost my mom 22 years ago. There's a LOT of bittersweet memories I have tied up in his music.

How about a little more Boogie Woogie piano.

Those kids sure have some moves!

Wow Eric...

Music is a huge part of my life. When I am depressed...I put on some good music. I can remember the big events that occured in my life...and the music that was popular at that time...

Guess I'm weird.

OMG, thanks for that Stevie Ray/Jeff Beck MTV video of "Goin Down". Truth be told, I'm not a dedicated fan of either, but that whole thing flat out SMOKES.

Reminded me of one of my favorite dueling guitarist videos, including this one featuring James Burton and a host of other worthy candidates:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yguERAkjaic

As long as we're on guitar stuff again, here's a clip featuring the guitar solo that hits me the hardest, its as close as a guitar can get to expressing an aching hunger. Song was written by Kris Kristofferson, its called "I've got to have you"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ertn_x_nvxo

Don't mind the fan video, or question the singer. Just wait until the solo at about 3:30 or so.

Tom;

"Pretty Woman" is another of my fav's as well.

By any chance, are you familiar with this version of the song?

(Them boys were silly back then lol)

Nice to see another person "gets it" re" the 2nd guitar solo...it ain't all about fretboard gymnastics.
