Here is that first gen Camaro that I have with a date on the bottom of 1969. It had some funky paint scheme on it that has almost worn off. This one lead a rough life as I remember sitting in the back yard taking a key and scratching the roof of the car!

One more thing that I feel that I have to mention which I have never noticed till today. This is very ironic! Look at the bottom of the first gen Camaro dated 1969. It says Heavy Chevy!
