Yes his book does and it shows that the cowl does not get painted from side to side. It shows the paint stopping well short of the pinch welds

Someone has his mind made up. Very critical I will say PTB on a LOS car I think not

Hey Jim,

Was that your Z11 in the pictures you posted? If so, do you have any close up pictures of the cowl before the restoration?

Thanks!

Also ironic all the pics of it clear across are quite shiny. Being lacquer paint and that GM never colour sanded this area makes me wonder .

These have been posted B4, could not find the old thread.

The blue car is a Norwood car, and I think the orange car is a photo that Charley Lillard posted.

This whole process of cowl paint was not consistant, paint the sucker how you like it.. , and it was gloss laquer, and it did not have to be rubbed to be glossy, however it did not have that wet look like modern urethane.
And after you done some of this is in order

PTB is NOT correct on a VN car, that was already stated

no, we did a lot of the cars in the late 70's & 80's

never thought to take pictures of the steps

but finding cars in bone yards it was ez to determine what the car was by the stripe color on the cowl of the VN cars (or lack of)
