My parents bought me a Ward's Hawthorne (Stingray copy-cat) for my b-day in about 1970 and it weighed a ton. A few years later it was stolen from the bike rack at Ward's and the replacement was a Schwinn Scrambler and that bike was excellent--light and very "wheelieable."

Sounds suspiciously like you set up a "hit" on your first bike in order to get the second one.

I'm a few years older, or more, then you guys and we didn't have the StingRays, or Choppers when I was a kid.
But I did have this cool attachment that slid over the handlebar end and screwed down. It worked like a
motorcycle throttle and when you cranked it a loud engine roar would erupt from it.
Very hi-tech for the time!

I still have a 1965 Humber 3spd hanging in the garage. Has a repop rear wheel but a heavily chromed front wheel with the original wide white.

photos in spring.

my mistake, i wanted a sears chopper, but got the JC Pennys swinger instead. it was only $69, and the sears was more. a schwinn was totally out of the question. but with the red lines and cheater slick i made do dennis
