What, a 2.3? That blows that theory!

I'm running a Mallory unilite breakerless ignition, and I have approx. 38 total degrees all in by about 2500rpm. I have the stock 4.10 rear gears - and the complete Gardner exhaust system, including the resonators.

You guys think that mandrel bent pipes with some Dynomax's are worth a 1/2 second?

I doubt it. That's putting a lot of faith in two pieces of pipe.

Come on Marlin. Listen to Pete! Put some pipes on and go steeper with your gearing and you will be living in the mid 13's! The pipes alone, may not be a full half second, but they are definately damming up the works. Greatest limiting factor! What carb was stock on those cars? What is the car running for revs going through the traps? I just saw a post on v8Buick where another Olds w-31 ran 14.0's. I believe that he is running 4.33 gearing. He is not done with that car by a long way. And I find it hard to believe that a Nova can't beat a slow boat Olds!!!!

I hear ya Rusty, but I'm trying to maintain a balance between keeping my car concourse stock and getting into the 13's! I can handle changing the exhaust, but I won't swap the 4.10's - this was the lowest gearset you could get in a Nova in '70, and appears that you needed the copo option to even get them. This car has it's complete, original, born-with, drivetrain in it, so I'm not planning to push it too hard, but would like to see the 13's.

You've got a special car so I wouldn't want you to break anything, but try bumping up the timing a notch, richin up the fuel a bit and the scary part--Wind her out till you hear her scream before you shift---Just like Belair62 does on his dates--------One those K&N FILTER inserts might help you on top end with the extra fuel mixture-----

Every time I hear about Yenko Deuce cars, I really do not conjure up the " Supercar " theme like the Camaros etc. 14's in the quarter does not scream Supercar. I know a lot of Muscle cars of the era ran similar times but were talkin " Supercar " right. Is it because of the LT1 or it's limited numbers that make it so?? I'm not trying to be a smartass here. Just that thses cars run like 340 Dusters etc. Hell I bought a GT mustang in 84 and with a few tweaks ( no410 gears ) ran 13.7. Educate me on these cars and why they are considerd in the " Supercar " family

Kind of feeling silly even responding to an uneducated statement like the one that you made but to run 13's in a 1970 musclecar with skinny pizza cutter polyglass tires, exhaust manifolds, smog system, factory tuning, etc. is a pretty big feat. Try it sometime.

I had a 1970 Chevelle SS LS5 454 that I had L60 15 Mickey Thompsons on the back and headers and the best run I had with it was 13.9's. To do that with a "small block" is pretty impressive IMO.

To say that a Deuce is not a supercar......I won't even go there. I can think of at least 10 different factory "big blocks" that little Nova would smoke.
