Different guy. Look at the bid history on the first auction. Orangecountychopper was bidding against heartbeatcity at one point. Also, when I bid to win, I always use odd numbers, OVER the amount, ie, if 10,000.00 is my max, I may bid 10,001.63, just in case. Both fdihartce and heartbeatcity bid just UNDER the 10,000.00 mark, which is a little odd (not saying anything is wrong, just a little odd).

Nice!
I wonder if chopper boy can produce an image of his so called NOS carb ?
I have no problem showing mine with its correct dates and such. I can even prove the ink stamps correct numberings, size and locations as well....
Weren't these repop'd in a short run by Holley not too long ago then discontinued?

Also, werent the first batch of ZL1 cars mis-carb'd?
My guess would be Holley got the notice well after this carb's stamping and assembly!
When were the replacement 4296 carb's actually produced, stamped and delivered to the regional dealerships for retrofitting????

That brings me to wondering if that 912 date code is actually an L88 intended carb. I have an NCRS guy looking into date runs for those cars....

I emailed "chopper boy" and ask if this was the same carb that was priced at 1,599.00 6 days ago. Here is his responce.

"Its called keeping up with the market...Used is now 10K, mine is NOS and 1/3 of the price"

For 1,599.00 or 3,499.00 I would expect at least one picture. Plus I don't belive his carb has a date code.

Ok, so my guy says that Holley batch makes these, however I am unsure the date codes were stamped as ordered. So, I feel that date codes were done as assembled.
I seem think that the GM part numbering is always rather off in comparison to date codes' more aligned font arrangements, so maybe the GM # is done as the air horn starts out then dated after assembly is completed---maybe not. The 4296 ink stamp could help identify it during assembly prior to satmping the air horn as well...

So, the L88 was well into the run and he states they were to have the 4296 throughout the run. I have not seen earlier dated ones so that for me is still something I'd like to see.

So, is this carb originally an L88 or ZL1 intended use based upon this?
Thoughts...?
