The 130MPH gauge package is absolutely not correct for the car. 150 MPH speedo was found in ALL 1970 Camaros regardless of engine choice. The correct L-78 tach is 5700-6500 Yellow line with 6500-7000 redline. This looks correct but since the needle is missing I question the whole gauge package.
I also wondered why the complete motor was changed out. The waterneck sticks out like a sore thumb. The rearend and sway bar are correct. Rick H. |

Looks like a nice car to start with and probrably runs good with that 454 squeezed in there. It's a shame about the the rod knock in the original motor but at least it was covered by GM. Too bad the owner back then wasn't given the option to keep the original motor. Hmm, those hub caps gotta go.........

I talked with the guy on Friday. He was going to check carb and dist numbers so I may know more tomorrow. He said GM installed a "long block" so the good heads are gone too.
Something doesn't seem right about it all though.

After doing some research in my Chevrolet Illustrated Chassis and Body Catolog.....in Group 5.858 CAMARO wheel covers I see item 12 part # 3980992 which is what the EBAY Maroon (code 67 Classic Copper) has. 1st time I had seen this least expensive PO1 cap used on SS car, but evidently correct. THAT style PO1 was 1 year only as also used on Mosport's 70 L-65 Camaro. 71-73 PO1 cap (part# 3990555) was similar but no BowTie and had Chevrolet Motor Division center area ala 67 Camaro Rally Centers.....

![]() PO2 Wire Cover, CL wheel with distintive FLAT inner sided (most were made by Kelsey Hayes with K code, but made by Norris Technology had T stamped code and are somewhat different. All 70 SS Camaros came with CL wheels unless you ordered the ZJ7 Rally Whee Option. I have shown the correct trim ring with tear drop valve stem hole....and ORIGINAL Correct lugnuts used on Ralleys and Z-28. CL wheels without optional covers got BowTie Baby Moon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
